The Orchestre Métropolitain and Maestro Yannick Nézet- Séguin support the Kovalev and Friends for Kids Foundation by hosting a music-filled benefit evening. In conjunction with the Foundation’s fundraising campaign, 150 tickets in the Loge and the Parterre sections of the Maison symphonique de Montréal were reserved for the concert Bach and the Romantics: Bruckner, which will be presented on December 8. A cocktail will be held after the concert and the event as a whole constitutes the Foundation’s first fundraising activity.

Created in 2008 by Alex Kovalev and Dr. Suzanne Vobecky, the Kovalev and Friends for Kids Foundation has a mission to ensure the well-being of children with heart defects or heart disease. The Foundation has also given itself a mission to help children with heart problems feel good about themselves, notably through sports as well as educational, artistic and recreational activities. The Foundation is more determined than ever to ensure that children with heart problems enjoy a good quality of life by encouraging close collaboration with charitable organizations both here and elsewhere that share these fundamental values.

“I’m proud to be able to associate my name and that of the Orchestre Métropolitain with the Kovalev Foundation,” said Yannick Nézet-Séguin. “Disease, particularly when it touches children, is a daily drama that too many have to experience, sometimes and even often in isolation. If we succeed, through our involvement in this benefit event, in bringing a little joy and self-esteem and a desire to dream and live life to the fullest to these children with heart problems, I’ll be thrilled to have contributed. We should all take to heart the health of our children and make it an unshakeable priority.”
