Porgy and Bess, Opéra de Montréal

Gershwin’s masterpiece enters the Opéra de Montréal repertory with an all-black cast. The Montreal Jubilation Gospel Choir makes its big company debut, alongside Canadian Measha Brueggergosman. Marie-Josée Lord returns to the Opéra de Montréal. The brilliant score features a string of hits, from the immortal Summertime to My Man’s Gone Now.

Tales of love and death in a small fishing community in South Carolina. Beautiful Bess tries to escape her troubled past. But her former lover, the bully Crown, threatens her from the shadows. Can crippled Porgy, who is madly in love with Bess, save her?
