The Trumpet in Gold!

A particularly rich evening in terms of tones and sonorities! The eclectic concert featuring Jens Lindemann and his Golden Trumpet with the soprano voice of Shannon Mercer and the Casavant organ of St. George’s Church played by Erik Reinart; this ensemble will present a variety of works such as a tribute to Maurice André, Adolph “Bud” Herseth, Wynton Marsalis and Allen Vizzutti.  You will first hear the Trumpet and Strings Concerto by Allan Gilliland, one of the most distinguished Canadian composers, followed by works for strings, brass, voice and organ by Neruda, Handel, Gershwin and Waller. It will be a first for the organ at the Festival.

The 19th edition of the Montreal Chamber Music Festival will present 22 concerts from May 8th through 31st at St. George’s Church at the corner of Peel St. and de la Gauchetière in the heart of Montreal; home to the Festival for the past four years, this venue is a beautiful example of English Gothic Revival architecture in Canada and offers an intimate setting of 500 cushioned seats with excellent acoustics. Concerts are at 7:30 p.m.
