Red Bull Flying Bach

Red Bull Flying Bach fuses the explosive style of the innovative breakdance crew, the Flying Steps, with the music of Johann Sebastian Bach. The result is a live performance that shatters barriers and merges artistic realms.

After a string of performances in Europe, Australia, Asia and more, Red Bull Flying Bach comes to Canada in 2014 with four performances in Montreal.

In a 65-minute live show, the Flying Steps and Christoph Hagel pair live breakdance choreography with the music of German Baroque composer Johann Sebastian Bach. Focusing specifically on Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier with live musical accompaniment from pianists, along with harpsichord musicians and electronic beats, the dances transcend boundaries between classical music and youth subculture.

Vartan Bassil, choreographer and founder of the Flying Steps, reflects that the 2014 World Tour is, “a dream come true”, adding, “this will be, by far, our most extensive and elaborate set of shows. It’s the only way we can continue to fascinate each crowd and each country with our art”. Christoph Hagel adds, “you’d think the two forms of art would clash, but this classical music actually blends beautifully with breakdance; it’s something you have to see to believe”.
