Morrisburg’s Upper Canada Playhouse kicks off its summer season with a show that’s all about weddings. But in their opening comedy, Stag and Doe, everything goes wrong for two couples getting ready to tie the knot. Running June 11 through July 5, this hilarious comedy by Mark Crawford is one of the most popular new shows to hit the Ontario theatre scene.

It’s familiar territory to anyone who’s planned a wedding or organized a stag and doe to raise funds for the happy bride and groom. The comedy is set in the kitchen of a rural community hall where one couple’s stag and doe ends up being held on the same night as another couple’s wedding reception. Strained and new-found relationships emerge in this hilarious clash of small town wedding parties.

Directed by Donnie Bowes the show stars Perry Mucci, Zach Council, Jody Osmond, Parris Greaves, Colleen Sutton and Julia Lederer. Stag and Doe will be followed by two new Norm Foster plays, Hilda’s Yard, starring Foster himself, and The Gentleman Clothier. A classic comedy, Touch and Go, joins the mix to provide a variety of summer comedies that have something for everyone.

The Fall is also jam packed with Lucien and Jimmy the Janitor paying a visit followed by another sensational live concert, Midnight Hour: Memories of Rhythm and Blues. The season wraps up with the holiday show Have Yourself A Swinging Little Country Christmas with public and school performances scheduled.
