On May 15th during National Police Week, Sun Youth held its annual pasta dinner to help raise funds for the Bullying Prevention and Conflict Resolution Program, an initiative through which the organization places its social mentors in public schools to intervene on these issues with the student body. The dinner was a wonderful event attended by over 200 people including several high ranking local police officers, some of whom have played a key role in the building and implementation of this program. Since the early 1970’s Sun Youth has worked closely with the police, developing a relationship that has made the community a safer place.

The dinner raised over $3,300.00 for the program. The spaghetti meal itself was prepared and served by volunteers. Volunteering also extended past the kitchen to include live music thanks to the generosity of a few musicians who came together forming a band for that night. Participants were also able to take part in a silent auction which featured many interesting prizes. Overall the evening was a brilliant experience filled with great people all brought together for the same cause. Sun Youth would like to thank the following sponsors for their generous contribution: Provigo Mont-Royal/St-Urbain, the Montreal Impact Academy, Boucherie Épicerie Soares & Fils, Pizza Nikkos, Barraca Rhumerie & Tapas, Action 500 and Jessica Pyton.
