Originally, individual X Factor contestants, the boys joined forces and became One Direction. Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Harry Style, Louis Tomlinson, and Liam Payne released their first single, “What Makes You Beautiful”, in late 2011. Songs like “What Makes You Beautiful” and “Live While We’re Young” propelled the band to the top of charts. To the dismay of countless fans, Zayn Malik left the band in March 2015. The four remaining members have continued touring with great success.
