Orchestre symphonique de Montréal presents

America according to Glass, Barber & Gershwin

America is in the spotlight for this concert featuring the musical minimalism of Philip Glass juxtaposed with the lyricism of Samuel Barber and the humour of George Gershwin! Two concertos, both equally captivating for their originality and dynamism, are also on the program: the first performed by Montreal cellist Matt Haimovitz and the second, by organist Paul Jacobs.

Glass, Cello Concerto no. 1 (approx. 30 min.)

Debussy, La cathédrale engloutie (orch. C. Matthews) (approx. 7 min.)

Barber, Toccata festiva for Organ and Orchestra, op. 36 (approx. 14 min.)

Gershwin, An American in Paris (approx. 16 min.)
