Choeur Classique de Montréal presents

Gounod / Duruflé

MESSE SOLENNELLE DE SAINTE CÉCILE – Charles Gounod
REQUIEM – Maurice Duruflé

A sublime, rarely-performed mass + one of the greatest requiems of all time = an eclectic program presented by the outstanding Chœur classique de Montréal, which has already delighted thousands of audience members at the Maison Symphonique.

Gounod surpassed himself with the Messe solennelle de sainte Cécile, showing subtlety and fervour in celebration of the patron saint of music.

By contrast, the Requiem by Maurice Duruflé arouses reverence, even meditation, rather than revolt in the face of death.

A large chorus, full orchestra, four brilliant Quebec soloists, and two exceptional works will make for an evening combining the romanticism of Charles Gounod with the modernism of Maurice Duruflé.
