Orchestre symphonique de Montréal presents

The OSM chorus sings Mozart & Schubert

Artists
OSM Chorus
Andrew Megill, OSM chorus master
François Zeitouni, organ

A native of  Montreal, François Zeitouni enjoys a double career as an organist and a pianist. He trained in organ, harmony and improvisation with Raymond Daveluy, at the same time studying piano and chamber music in Lise Boucher’s class at the Conservatoire de musique du Québec in Montreal, where he graduated “with great distinction.” He continued his piano studies in London with Maria Curcio, also taking part in chamber-music workshops and master classes at the Orford Arts Centre as well as in England at the International Musicians Seminar Prussia Cove.

For many years François Zeitouni held the position of substitute organist at Saint Joseph’s Oratory in Montreal. He is currently organist at the Église du Gesù, where he is privileged to perform on one of the most beautiful organs in Quebec and to carry on the great musical tradition of those historical premises.

Presentation of the concert
Mozart,  Vesperæ solennes de confessore in C major, K. 339 (approx. 30 min.)
Schubert, Mass no. 5 in A-flat major, D. 678 (approx. 50 min.)

Voices have pride of place in this program of spiritual music! Along with Mozart’s Vesperæ solennes de confessore, featuring the sublime “Laudate Dominum” for soprano, and Schubert’s Mass no. 5, one of the composer’s most ambitious works, discover Schoenberg’s Friede auf Erden (Peace on Earth), his only work inspired by a Christian theme. A simply divine concert!
