Montreal AVUDO

A spectacular multimedia show that pays tribute TO THE ST. LAWRENCE RIVER all SUMMER Long in the Old Port.

This poetic multimedia performance, created uniquely for Montreal’s 375th by the celebrated Compagnia Finzi Pasca will be taking over the west sector of the Old Port of Montreal, near the King Edward Pier and the Montreal Science Centre.

Young and old will be dazzled, moved and transported by the magic of images and scenes projected on rippling water walls and other spectacular installations. Montreal Avudo will beautifully superimpose archive images, original documents, illustrations and 3D animations to take us on a voyage through history.

The larger-than-life installations will come alive primarily on the water. Water jets from 30 or so fountains will create massive 30 X 11.5 metre tall screens of water. The scenography will also include 94 shipping containers, creating the world’s highest container tower at 11 stories tall. An original music score composed by Maria Bonzanigo and recorded with the Orchestre Métropolitain and the Petits Chanteurs du Mont-Royal will accompany this exquisite production.

Montréal Avudo’s touching and poetic nature promises to strike a chord with Montrealers and visitors. Through the water, spectators will be able to explore the river’s memories through different eras, seasons and weather, thanks to sound effects and juxtaposed images. Not only will it pay homage to Montreal’s rich past, but it will give us a one-of-a-kind glimpse at its future.

Over 180,000 spectators will be able to attend one of the 100 shows of this larger-than-life performance created by Daniele Finzi Pasca and his Compagnia Finzi Pasca (Corteo, Rain, La Verità, closing ceremonies of the Turin and Sochi Olympic Games and others).

Montreal AVUDO offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity for everyone who loves Montreal to come together at the heart of the Old Port, at the very same place where, in spite of great odds, ships brought our ancestors to banks of the St. Lawrence River. This is a symbolic place and a landmark location to celebrate the river that has shaped us and our city.
